Costs & Charges

Wayne Memorial Hospital encourages patients to take ownership of their health and any costs they may incur at our hospital to improve their health. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) also asks that hospitals help patients understand what their potential financial liability might be for services they obtain at the hospital and enable patients to compare costs for similar services across hospitals. To facilitate this, CMS has mandated that almost all hospitals in the United States post their charges for services, procedures and products.

Charges vs. Cost

* Charges are our standard charge for a service, procedure or product. It wouldn’t be much of a stretch to say no one pays charges at hospitals.

* Your Cost would be your portion of a hospital bill after your insurance paid its portion of the bill, after your bill was discounted for prompt payment or some of the charges were provided for with our charity care policy.
