WMH Rehab Grand Reopening “Gives Back”
(Honesdale, November 8, 2017)… If you bring a non-perishable food item to Wayne Memorial Rehabilitation Services’ grand reopening at 190 Delaware Street on Thursday, December 7th, Wayne Memorial will match it. The food will go to the Wayne County Food Bank for the holidays. “T’is the season to give, so we’re giving back to the community and celebrating our reopening at the same time,” said Terri Henderson, OT, manager Wayne Memorial Rehabilitation Services.
The grand reopening from 4pm – 7pm will also include demonstrations in physical, occupational and speech therapy, such as LSVT Big & Loud for Parkinson’s patients and balance exercises for all ages. The staff will also provide demonstrations and information about stroke rehabilitation. “We have all three disciplines under one roof,” said Henderson, who added that the new location is very patient-friendly. “We have a spacious parking lot and easy access to our therapy gym.”
Wayne Memorial Hospital relocated its Stourbridge Professional Complex rehabilitation services to the Delaware Street location in September to accommodate the expansion of Behavioral Health space at Stourbridge. The hospital’s other rehab services’ office at the Route 6 Mall remains where it is.
The grand reopening will offer refreshments and giveaways as well as information on rehabilitation, including specialty services offered by Wayne Memorial for oncology, lymphedema and Parkinson’s patients.
“We’re thrilled with our new location on Delaware Street, and we want to celebrate with our patients and their families,” said James Hockenbury, director Ancillary Services. He noted that folks do not have to donate a food item to enjoy the festivities. “Just come and see what we’re all about– rehabilitation,” he said, “helping people on the road to good health and independence after injury or illness. That’s enough to celebrate right there!”
