WMH Employees Give Back for Social Worker and Nutrition Month

(Honesdale, PA, April 4, 2025)…Wayne Memorial Hospital employees answered the call during March, National Social Worker and Nutrition Month. A donation drive to collect personal care items and cleaning products for the Wayne County Food Pantry was sponsored by the Social Work/Case Worker Department and Nutrition Services. Collection boxes around the hospital were filled with lots of useful and needed products. The drive was initiated by Social Worker Morgan Silfies, and the photo with employees from both departments shows just a small sample of the response from coworkers at Wayne Memorial.

The Wayne County Food Pantry is the hospitals first referral source when an individual is in need of food or basic household items. The social work department deals with patients experiencing homelessness weekly in almost all departments of the hospital. According to the PA Department of Community and Economic Development, on any given day over 12,000 Pennsylvanians are known to be homeless across the commonwealth. WMH Social Services Manager Mary Burgio-Terpak, LCSW was not available for the photo but sends out a big THANK YOU to everyone for supporting this endeavor.
