WMCHC Receives Immunization Champion Award

Honesdale, PA (September 4, 2018) –Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (WMCHC) was presented with a 2018 Pennsylvania Immunization Champion Award during the 24th Annual PA Immunization Conference hosted by Penn State College of Medicine and the Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH) on August 16th in Harrisburg, PA. The award honors organizations and individuals for exemplary work in creating enhanced vaccine administration systems leading to improved overall immunization rates.

WMCHC’s nomination recognized Michelle Corrigan, RN, wellness & clinical care coordinator, and Sarah Mickel, LPN, vaccine coordinator, with revamping the organization’s Immunization Policies and Procedures, recommending the purchase of pharmaceutical grade refrigerators and freezers as well as implementation of Digital Data Loggers across all WMCHC sites.

PA DOH Section Inspector Bill Court who nominated the duo, noted “the exhausting efforts of Michelle and Sarah” and hailed WMCHC as a “model VFC provider”.
