(Honesdale, PA – June 18, 2021)…After administering more than 31,000 COVID vaccines over the past six months, Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (WMCHC) will no longer hold public clinics for first doses, but will be offering the vaccine in two of its medical offices.
Effective June 21st the Pfizer vaccine will be offered to any one age 12 and over on select days and times at the Highland Physicians Family Health Center and the Honesdale Pediatric Center. It is not necessary to be a WMCHC patient to receive the vaccine at these offices. Additionally, patients will not incur any out-of- pocket expense as the administration fee will be covered by insurance without co-pay or deductible. The cost for uninsured patients will be covered by the federal government.
“The vaccine initiative started out slowly in 2021 due to the lack of supply,” stated Erica Brown, a member of WMCHC administration and vaccine team. “However, now that public demand for vaccines has decreased, we are entering the next stage.”
The final public first-dose clinics were held this past week at the Pike County Training Center in Lords Valley on June 15th and the former Rusty Palmer’s in Honesdale on June 17th. According to Brown, corresponding second doses on June 29th and July 6th will still be administered at the Pike Training Center while Honesdale second dose clinics will transition from Rusty Palmer’s to the former Honesdale Pulmonary office at the Stourbridge Complex, 600 Maple Avenue on June 23rd, July 8th and July 10th.
Those interested in receiving a first-dose of COVID vaccine June 21st or beyond are asked to call the Highland Physicians Family Health Center at 570-251-6500 or the Honesdale Pediatric Center at 570-253-5838 for an appointment. No preliminary paperwork or on-line registration is required. However, appointments are necessary and patients will be asked to complete a shortened registration form specifically for vaccine upon arrival at the office as well as bring their insurance card. Visit the COVID Registration page at wmchc.net for the tentative schedule at each office.
WMCHC is a federally qualified health center clinically affiliated with Wayne Memorial Health System, Inc. For information on all of WMCHC’s services and office locations, visit wmchc.net or call 570-253-8390.
