Wayne Memorial to Open Physician Specialty Clinic

Wayne Memorial Hospital

Honesdale Cardiology First Occupant

(Honesdale, November 16, 2020)…In early December, a new multi-physician practice will officially open inside a renovated former patient floor, 4 South, at Wayne Memorial Hospital. The first occupant will be Honesdale Cardiology, which will move from 507 High Street, Honesdale. The new practice, a joint venture between Wayne Memorial Hospital and Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers, will be called the Physician Specialty Clinic. Wayne Memorial CEO David Hoff anticipates other specialties locating to the same space in 2021.  A desire for more space and enhanced communications with hospital-based departments prompted the new clinic.

“The new Physician Specialty Clinic inside Wayne Memorial offers a unique opportunity for physicians to communicate more effectively with our hospitalists, our cardiology technologists, our respiratory therapists, and other departments, including our Emergency Department,” said Hoff.  He noted that the plan to relocate specialty physicians to a former patient floor was part of the hospital’s overall plan when it built the new private-room patient tower, which opened in 2019.

The new clinic offers a waiting room, 11 exam rooms, nurse accommodations and physician offices.

“Honesdale Cardiology has been growing substantially,” said Frederick Jackson, executive director of Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers, “especially with the implementation of the hospital’s Heart & Vascular Center, a cardiac cath lab, in 2016. The new office is just one floor away from the cath lab.”

Honesdale Cardiology currently has three providers: interventional cardiologist Walid Hassan, MD, MACP, FAHA, FACC, FCCP, FSCAI, general cardiologist Nicholas Brodyn, DO, FACC, FCCP, FACP, FSCCT and Jennifer Arnold, PA-C.

Wayne Memorial Hospital offers an array of cardiology services, including both pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical stress tests, nuclear medicine, pacemaker and defibrillator placement and interventional cardiac and vascular procedures in its Heart & Vascular Center.

The new Physician Specialty Clinic can be accessed most conveniently through the Emergency Department entrance and Elevator B across from the vending machine area, near the cashier and the new Release of Medical Information office. Due to COVID-19, hospital entry is limited to only two doors—the Emergency Department and the Main Entrance.

Honesdale Cardiology will retain its current phone number, (570) 253-8185, for the time being, according to WMH administrators. For more information, visit wmh.org or wmchc.net.
