Wayne Memorial Community Health Needs Assessment Underway

(Honesdale, PA, December 12, 2024)…Wayne Memorial Hospital (WMH) and Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (WMCHC) are seeking public input as a vital component of its 2025 Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA).

As a non-profit hospital, WMH is required to conduct a CHNA every three years. The last needs assessment, completed in 2022, revealed the continued impact of COVID-19 in our community, the rising need for mental health services, and the need for continued emphasis on the treatment of heart disease and cancer related conditions. This type of feedback allows the health system to align its priorities with those of the community.

In addition, Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers, a federally qualified health center (FQHC), is also required to perform a CHNA every three years to understand and respond to the needs of the community and tailor services accordingly.

WMH and WHCHC have enlisted East Stroudsburg University to facilitate the 2025 CHNA. Under the leadership of Clare M. Lenhart, PHD, team members of the University’s Institute for Public Health Research & Innovation will conduct focus groups and community level interviews as well as distribute an electronic community member survey. Data from these primary and secondary sources will allow WMH and WMCHC to hear directly from the community it serves.
