PEER Graduation at Wayne Woodlands Manor

(Honesdale, PA, December 19, 2024)… A PEER graduation ceremony was recently held at Wayne Woodlands Manor (WWM), honoring EIGHT residents. The PEER graduates are now official members of the Pennsylvania Empowered Expert Resident (PEER) program to advocate for themselves and fellow residents to improve the quality of their lives. “They are so proud to have graduated and are excited to pass their knowledge along to others,” said WWM Activities Director Debra Bishop.

Speakers at the event, November 27th included WWM Administrator Judy Eisenhauer, LNHA, DNP, CRRN, Ombudsman Kim.Erickson, and Regional Ombudsman Program Coordinator Linda Korgeski. To earn the status, residents went through training sessions for five weeks learning about governing long term care facilities and how to present issues to the facility administration among other topics including the function of the ombudsman. They each received a certificate, a badge, and a poster for their door letting other residents know where to go with their concerns.

Family members, WWM staff and fellow residents attended the ceremony and enjoyed refreshments with the graduates to celebrate the occasion.
