Patty Wilcha is Wayne Woodlands’ Employee of the Year 2019

(Honesdale, January 16, 2020)… Patty Wilcha was there from the very beginning, when Wayne Woodlands Manor opened in Waymart in 1994, and she’s clearly earned the respect and fondness of her co-workers. The roughly 120 full and part-time employees voted her the skilled nursing facility’s Employee of the Year 2019—bringing tears to Wilcha’s eyes.

“I was surprise, nervous and really very proud, too,” said Wilcha afterwards. “It’s an honor.”  A licensed practical nurse, Wilcha worked as a charge nurse in the early years, but for the past two decades she has been the facility’s patient care assessment coordinator, or LPN-RNAC, responsible for the coordination of processes related to a patient’s care.

“I’ve worked with Patty for 13 years,” said Michael Freund, Wayne Woodlands administrator. “She has always had an outstanding work ethic, strong knowledge of the medical assessment process, and most importantly, has been an advocate for our residents and their families. She is a true asset to Wayne Woodlands Manor.”

Wilcha, the mother of two grown children and three grandchildren, hails from Jermyn in Lackawanna County.

Wayne Woodlands, a 121-bed skilled nursing facility, also offers short-term rehabilitation and respite care. It is a part of Wayne Memorial Health System.

Congratulations Patty!
