Wayne Memorial Hospital (WMH) Physical Therapists were welcomed by the Wayne County Commissioners Thursday, October 10th, as they issued a proclamation in recognition of October as Physical Therapy Month. Physical therapists work with patients to help maximize mobility, manage pain, possibly reduce the need for prescription drugs or surgery and recover as much functionality as possible after an injury or illness.
At Wayne Memorial Hospital, the acute care in the hospital, the inpatient rehabilitation unit, and outpatient center in Honesdale are staffed with dedicated and compassionate professionals. The physical therapists, physical therapy assistants, and support staff help individuals maintain, restore and improve movement, activity and functioning. The goal for each patient is individual, and in every case includes improving balance, strength, and mobility as well as reducing or eliminating pain. To celebrate Physical Therapy Month, they have a display raffle at the hospital for employees and the community as you enter the main entrance of the hospital and one for PT patients and others going to the lab at the Route 6 Plaza facility. The prize for each location includes Therabands, a water bottle, a stretch strap, and Physioball.
The American Physical Therapy Association highlights the month to raise awareness of the many benefits of physical therapy and celebrate the professionals who improve quality of life through hands-on care, patient education, and prescribed movement.
