National Rural Health Day in Wayne County

(Honesdale, November 22, 2024)…November 21st was recognized as National Rural Health Day throughout Wayne County. A proclamation issued by the Wayne County Commissioners encouraged everyone to recognize the unique healthcare needs and opportunities that exist in our community.

Representatives from Wayne Memorial Health System (WMHS) and Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (WMCHC) along with other area rural health providers visited the Wayne County Court House to accept the proclamation and acknowledge their commitment as allies to meet the health and medical needs of the greater Wayne County area.  The commissioners praised the many accomplishments of Wayne Memorial as well as the Wright Center, and PureRejuv Wellness Center at the Himalayan Institute in working as partners for the benefit of everyone.

“I’ve watched it evolve through the years,” Wayne County Commissioner’s Chairman Brian Smith stated. “I’m proud and happy and comfortable with the people we have in place.”

In addition to those in attendance, Lisa Davis, Director of the Pennsylvania Office of Rural Health, joined by speaker phone. Davis commended everyone for the continued growth and success of healthcare in Wayne County, “What you do, we recognize and celebrate.”
