National Health Care Supply Chain Week

National Health Care Supply Chain Week is October 6 – 12, and when you think of essential workers, you automatically think of doctors, nurses, ect. but these folks are essential too!

The employees of Wayne Memorial Hospital (WMH) who procure all the necessary items needed in healthcare play a very important role in the delivery of medical services.

“If it’s needed, we have to get it and sometimes we have to be pretty creative to do so,” says Materials Management Manager Lorie Smith. “Shortages, strikes, natural disasters, they all make the job very challenging at times.”

Supply Chain Week is a time to honor these professionals for their exceptional contributions to patient care and to building operational efficiency and resilience so healthcare institutions like WMH can continue to serve their communities. To mark the occasion, the WMH team enjoyed a celebratory lunch together and received appreciation gifts.
