Health Center Week Proclaimed in Pike County

(Honesdale, August 3, 2023)…The Pike County Commissioners presented Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (WMCHC) with a proclamation recognizing August 6 – 12th as National Health Center Week for 2023.

The proclamation noted “the Community Health Center model continues to provide an effective means of overcoming barriers to healthcare access, including geography, income and insurance status –improving health outcomes and reducing healthcare system costs.”

WMCHC operates five sites within Pike County to offer primary care, tick-borne wellness, women’s health, pediatric and dental services. In response to the needs of the community, growth in the areas of pediatrics and expanded testing for women are being considered.

Overall, WMCHC’s 18 office locations stretch across four counties and include behavioral health services for treatment of mental health and substance use disorders and urgent care/walk-in centers for non-life-threatening medical needs. For locations of all services, visit www.wmchc.net.

WMCHC’s affiliate, Wayne Memorial Hospital, also offers medical services in Pike County, including x-rays, digital mammography and bone density scans.
