(Honesdale, June 5, 2023) … Wayne County Dairy Princess Sydney Roberts showed up at Wayne Memorial’s New Beginnings Birthing Suites on June 2nd to present a basket full of dairy goodies to newborn Hadley Jo Owen. Hadley Jo just happened to be born on the very first day of Dairy Month, June 1st, at 5:36am. She weighed in at 6 lbs, 3.8 oz. Her parents, Lindsey and Gaston Owen of Callicoon, New York, were thrilled to receive the basket and to meet Sydney. Packed with fresh dairy products such as cheese from Calkins Creamery, the basket will go a long way! The U.S. has celebrated National Dairy Month since 1939. In its 2020-2025 Dietary Guidelines, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Department of Health and Human Services promote the consumption of dairy foods like milk, yogurt and cheese, noting they help to provide three key nutrients: calcium, potassium and vitamin D. Hadley Jo is the Owen couple’s first child. Congratulations to the Owen family! Photo, left to right: Mom Lindsey, RN Mary Jeanne Joyal holding Hadley Jo, Dad Gaston, and Sydney Roberts.
