COVID Testing Site to Relocate, Lab Site to Reopen

(Honesdale, May 14, 2021)…Wayne Memorial’s COVID-19 testing site at the Wayne County Fairgrounds is moving to the Stourbridge Professional Complex, Route 6 and Maple Ave, Honesdale. The fairgrounds site will close May 31st and reopen the following day, June 1st, at the new location, a drive-through at the former Wayne Health Services Pharmacy.
In a separate action, Wayne Memorial Hospital Laboratory Manager John Romano said the Lab’s Forest City location, inside the Forest City Family Health Center on Dundaff Street, will reopen Monday, May 17th. Normal hours, Monday to Friday, 6:30am – 2pm, will resume.
Romano said the Fairgrounds site was not as busy recently as it had been, but the main reason to move was impending activity at the Fairgrounds itself, including harness racing and the return of the Wayne County Fair.
“We will still be offering testing as we did at the Fairgrounds,” added Romano, “Monday to Friday 7:30am – 4pm and Saturday 8:00 – 12noon. A prescription is required for the test.”
Wayne Memorial’s outpatient COVID test is a PCR or polymerase chain reaction test, considered the gold standard in COVID testing. It can actually detect the virus within days of infection even in those who have no symptoms.
