Honesdale, PA (June 3, 2024) — Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (WMCHC) is proud to announce the addition of a new service in Carbondale. As of Monday, June 3, 2024, Carbondale Walk-In Care, located at 150 Brooklyn Street, began treating patients age one to adult for non-life-threatening conditions. Days and hours of operation are Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
“We identified a need for walk-in care in Carbondale as the closest facility offering similar services is located in Dickson City,” stated Wynter Newman, chief administrative officer, WMCHC.
The Center is staffed by one physician and two advanced practice providers – Stanley Skonieczski, MD; Jackie Hillriegel, PA-C and Michelle Szymanski, CRNP. Conditions appropriate to be seen at Carbondale Walk-In include colds, earaches, rashes, cuts, sprains, allergic reactions and more. Walk-in care is a good option for treatment of minor health issues when a patient’s Primary Care Provider (PCP) is not available. Carbondale Walk-In Care is not a replacement for Emergency Department (or ER) Care needed for life-threatening conditions.
“Renovating the office space and hiring qualified support staff has been underway for months,” stated Newman. “Being able to remove the ‘coming soon’ signs and welcome patients into the facility has been much anticipated.”
Carbondale Walk-In Care accepts most major insurances, managed care plans, Medicare and Medical Assistance. For more information about the center, call 570-281-8594 or visit www.wmchc.net. WMCHC is a federally qualified health center clinically affiliated with Wayne Memorial Health System, Inc.
