Blue Christmas Service December 30th in Honesdale

(Honesdale, December 17, 2018)…While most people go about joyfully planning for a festive holiday season — that’s not the case for everyone. For those who have suffered a personal loss, death of a loved one or are dealing with an illness, the thought of celebrating and feelings of happiness leave them at odds with their emotions.
On Sunday, December 30th, a special service for those seeking comfort this time of year will be held at 3 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church located at Church and Ninth Streets in Honesdale.
“The purpose of this annual service is to offer comfort, remind us we are not alone and honor the feelings of those struggling during the holidays,” stated Reverend Edward K. Erb, pastor, Grace Episcopal Church and hospice chaplain, Wayne Memorial Hospital. “It is a Service of Hope during what some see as the darkest time of the year.”
Worshipers of any denomination are invited to attend and will have an opportunity to take part in a ritual/symbol to bring forth healing and peace. Trained grief counselors will be available to talk with anyone who needs a listening ear. The service is sponsored by Grace Church and the organizers of Wayne Memorial Hospital’s Grief Support Group.
