Wayne Memorial COVID-19 Policies, Testing and Vaccine Information

Updates for Wayne Memorial Hospital and Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers as of May 11, 2023 following the end of the federal Public Health Emergency (PHE) are listed below.

Masking Policy 

Masks are optional for patients, staff and visitors except in the following circumstances:

  • Exhibiting respiratory symptoms
  • Had a known exposure to COVID, flu or other respiratory illnesses in the past five days

Masking stations are available at the entrances of the hospital and within WMCHC office waiting rooms.

Please note, the mask mandate may be re-implemented during times of high rates of community spread.

Patient testing

Patients being admitted to the hospital are not required to be COVID tested, unless there is reasonable suspicion, known recent exposure, or evidence of COVID-like symptoms.  Surgical outpatients will continue to be screened as part of the routine Pre Admission Testing process, and only tested if there is reasonable suspicion. Patients who present for URGENT or EMERGENT surgery at Wayne Memorial Hospital, WILL BE COVID TESTED.

How to Get a COVID Test

A PCR test must be ordered by a physician or advanced practice provider and can be performed at Wayne Memorial Hospital’s Main Laboratory. Call 570-253-8247 for more information. WMCHC primary care providers may perform antigen tests (also known as rapid-tests) in their offices.

How to Schedule a COVID Vaccine

Monovalent 2023 COVID vaccines for children age 6 months to adult are offered at Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers’ Primary Care offices. Appointments are required. Click here for office information. For further assistance, call 570-253-8197.
