Christmas Joy for Seniors and More

(Honesdale, December 17, 2024)…Generosity is overflowing for senior citizens this year with many Wayne Memorial Hospital (WMH) employees. Requests for senior gift donations came in and the response was huge. The senior gift program is coordinated between the Wayne County Area Agency on Aging and WMH Social Services Manager Mary Burgio-Terpak, LCSW. This year the list included 46 senior citizens many for general necessities, household items, and pet food. WMH employees went shopping and got it all, including a TV and two microwaves. Thank you everyone for your kindness. Burgio-Terpak commented that every year this is matched “with great success and absolute love by the staff here.”

Just a couple of weeks ago she collected boxes upon boxes of gifts for children. While toys are always the most sought after presents; pajamas, underwear, and socks are so appreciated. From newborns to teenagers, the boxes were piled up with garments requested as part of the Angel Tree Program.
