WMH Celebrates National Social Work Month

(Honesdale, March 4, 2024)…March is National Social Work Month. Wayne Memorial Hospital boasts a very competent and compassionate staff of social workers who play an important role in patients’ lives. They assess the physical, social, emotional and environmental needs of patients and their families and identify services and programs to ensure a safe, caring transition to the next setting after discharge, whether it be home, assisted living or some other option. The theme of Social Work Month 2024, celebrated in March of every year, is Empowering Social Workers. It casts a light on what social workers do and the importance of helping them to help others, whether it be with simple activities of daily living or drug addiction or a mental health crisis. This month, Wayne Memorial social workers are giving back: they have launched a food drive, collecting nonperishable and personal care items for those who need it most. Wayne Memorial salutes and thanks its social workers for all they do!
