WMH Outpatient Site Changes
(Honesdale, April 12, 2023) …When Wayne Memorial Hospital moves its current Carbondale outpatient services from Salem Avenue to 150 Brooklyn Street in May, staff will also be closing outpatient sites in Forest City and Waymart. Effective 12noon on Thursday, May 11th, patients seeking lab or X-ray services in those two satellite offices will be redirected to the hospital’s new Carbondale site, which also offers EKG studies and mobile mammography, or to Wayne Memorial Hospital (WMH) in Honesdale.
“We’re very excited about our new Carbondale site, which is across the street from Carbondale High School and very convenient for patients,” said James Hockenbury, MHA, ACHE, Wayne Memorial’s Chief of Ancillary Services. “Our Forest City and Waymart sites are both less than a 15-minute drive from 150 Brooklyn Street.”
The hospital’s outpatient services in Carbondale will retain the same phone number (570) 282 – 1637 and hours when the Salem Avenue office closes, also on May 11th, and reopens at the new address the following week.
Laboratory Services will be open, starting on May 15th, Monday to Friday, 7am – 3pm. Radiology services – X-rays and EKGs- will open, starting on May 17th, Monday to Friday 7am – 3:30pm. Mobile mammography will be offered by appointment only.
Physician practices in Waymart and Forest City, both operated by Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (WMCHC), are not closing. However, WMCHC’s primary care and Women’s Health offices in Carbondale are both moving with WMH to 150 Brooklyn Street. (Women’s Health may temporarily be relocated to Forest City until office construction is complete on Brooklyn Street.)
Hockenbury said the Forest City and Waymart outpatient closures are due primarily to low patient volumes, but, he added, “we have had a long relationship with those two communities and we look forward to serving them in Carbondale.”
Wayne Memorial Hospital offers both Laboratory Services and Imaging Services 24/7 at its 601 Park St., Honesdale location.
