Wayne Memorial Cath Lab Re-Accredited 2023

(Honesdale, February 14, 2023)…Wayne Memorial Hospital’s, cardiac catheterization laboratory, The Heart & Vascular Center, has been re-accredited by Corazon, an accreditation agency approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Health. The one-year accreditation certificate arrived at an appropriate moment, the middle of National Heart Month.

The Center completed a rigorous requirement process that included providing quarterly reports and 24-hour coverage for Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) emergencies. PCI, formerly known as angioplasty with stent, is a procedure that uses a catheter (thin flexible tube) to open up blood vessels in the heart that have been narrowed by plaque buildup, a life-threatening condition called atherosclerosis. In addition to PCI procedures, the Heart & Vascular Center provides diagnostic and interventional peripheral vascular procedures.

The Center opened in 2016 and recently marked the 2000th patient treated.
