Pfizer Booster Clinics offered by Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers

(Honesdale, PA … September 28, 2021) Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (WMCHC) will hold Pfizer-BioNTech COVID booster clinics on the first, second and fourth Wednesdays of the month, beginning Wednesday, October 6th from 8 am to 10 am at the Stourbridge Professional Complex, (former Honesdale Pulmonary office) at 600 Maple Avenue, Honesdale, PA.  On the third Wednesday of the month, starting October 20th, Pike County clinics will be conducted at the Pike Training Center, 135 Pike County Boulevard, Lords Valley, PA. Registration is required for all.

“We are poised with both adequate vaccine supply and staffing for this next phase of the COVID vaccine rollout,” stated Frederick Jackson, executive director, WMCHC.

Booster shots will be administered in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommendations for those who have completed the primary series of Pizer-BioNTech (first and second doses) at least 6 months ago. Included are people age 65 and over and residents in long-term care settings;  individuals 18 and over with underlying medical conditions; and individuals aged 18 to 64 years who are at increased risk of COVID exposure and transmission because of their occupational or institutional setting (health care, first responders, schools, correctional facilities, homeless shelters, public transit, grocery stores).  For a full current list, visit Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine Booster Shot | CDC

“It’s important for those who received the Moderna vaccine to know it is not yet recommended for boosters based on data indicating better efficacy,” stated James Cruse, M.D., medical director of WMCHC. “They may or may not be needed. We should wait on the data.”
