Rehab & Recreation Open House at Wayne Woodlands August 24“Our facility is home to a variety of age groups, many of whom have grown up in a world of innovative technology and recreational pursuits more sophisticated than some of the games we used to play,” said Marion Swencki, RN, NHA, administrator, “With their encouragement and help, we have installed lots of new activities.”
Wayne Woodlands has created a “Relaxation Room,” complete with music and peaceful scenery, installed new game equipment in an expanded Recreation Room, and even enhanced some of its shower rooms with a “Tuscany” theme. Some of the new features were underwritten by a $10,000 donation from the Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
“Our residents are more than pleased,” said Swencki, “and we are very grateful to the Auxiliary for thinking of us.”
Also planned for the open house: a demonstration of “virtual rehabilitation,” whereby physical or occupational therapists guide patients through special exercises and activities in a computer-generated “interactive” environment.
The Open House on Friday, August 24th, from 1pm to 4pm, will be held rain or shine at Wayne Woodlands Manor, 37 Woodlands Drive, right off South Street, in Waymart. For more information, call (570) 488 -7130. Light refreshments will be served.
