Alfred G. Howell, known as A.G., joined the Foundation Board of Trustees in November of 2004. Other than an absence to attend law school in San Diego, California, A.G. is a lifelong resident of Honesdale. He is married to the former Patricia Murray, daughter of Joseph and Tish Murray. They reside in Honesdale with their three children, Faith, Will and Drew. A.G. engages in the general practice of law, including real estate, estate and probate, personal injury, contracts, criminal law and family law, with the law firm of Howell, Howell, and Krause, which is located on 9th Street in Honesdale. The law firm was founded by his grandfather, A. Emerson Howell, a former Chair of the Board of Directors of Wayne Memorial Hospital. A.G., like his grandfather and father, Alfred J. Howell, attended Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. A.G. was awarded his law degree from the California Western School of Law in 1996. During his time in law school in California, he recognized that Northeastern Pennsylvania is a beautiful and fun place to live and to raise a family.

Matthew L. Meagher

Matthew (Matt) L. Meagher joined the Wayne Memorial Health Foundation Board of Trustees in January of 2005. Matt is the son of Paul and Sandy Meagher. Matt represents the second generation of the Meagher family to serve on the Health Foudnation Board of Trustees. His father, Paul, was one of the original Board members when the Foundation was incorporated in 1981. Matt is a graduate of Honesdale High School and was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in 1996 from the University of Scranton. After working in the insurance industry for a few years, Matt relocated to San Diego, California to attend law school. While earning his law degree at California Western, he met his wife, Carrie, who was an elementary school teacher in the inner city of San Diego. Carrie grew up in a small New Hampshire town. While enjoying visits to Honesdale with Matt, she developed a fondness for the Wayne County way of life. After Matt’s graduation from law school in 2001, they decided that Wayne County was a place where they wanted to rear their family, because of the excellent schools, health care services, and the overall high quality of life in a rural area. Matt presently practices law at the Hamill Law Offices in Honesdale. He also serves as a part-time assistant district attorney. His other community activities consist of the Honesdale Area Jaycees, the Wayne County Historical Society and the Knights of Columbus. Carrie is a first grade teacher at the Stourbridge Primary Center. Matt, Carrie, and their daughter, Tess, reside in Honesdale. Tess was born at Wayne Memorial on May 19th , 2004. Matt was very pleased with care she was given. “With the long tradition that my family has had, it is an honor to be a part of it, and I am very excited about it. I am very excited about helping Wayne Memorial continue to grow and serve the needs of the community.”
 

 Dan Kagan

Dan Kagan joined the Foundation Board in November of 2004. Dan and his wife, Jane, have been the owners and directors of Lake Bryn Mawr Camp since 1997. Dan is a graduate of the University of Arizona and was awarded a Master of Business Admnistraiton Degree from Fordham University. Dan has a rich background in campaining and was mentored by the late Morry Stein, former director of Camp Echo Lake. Likewise, Jane has been a camp director and administrator for nearly 20 years, gaining her experience in her family business, Jeff Lakes Day Camp. Jane is a graduate of the University of Pennsyvlania. With three daughters of their own, ages 18, 14, and 10, it is not difficult to understand that owning and directing a camp that provides first-class experiences for young women is a labor of love.  They bring their knowledge and love from their own family each summer. Lake Bryn Mawr Camp is also a well-known and much used venue for seminars, wedding receptions and other social events thorughout the entire year. When not in camp, Dan, Jane, and their three daughters reside in Short Hills, New Jersey. “The Bryn Mawr experience with Wayne Memorial Hospital has been consistent for the eight years that I have been running this camp. We get great service, the best of care. I look forward to being on the board to ensure continued service and care of hospital.”

Henry M. Skier

Henry (Hank) M. Skier is one of the original Board Members of the Wayne Memorial Health Foundation. He currently serves as President of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation. Henry is President of A.M. Skier Insurance and A.M. Skier Reinsurance, the largest direct national insurer and reinsurer of children’s camps in the United States. Founded in 1920 by Henry’s father, Abram M. Skier, the firm is now in its third generation of Skier family ownership, with Henry’s son, Jeffrey, and daughter, Aimee, (also a member of the Health Foundation Board of Trustees) sharing leadership of the companies. Henry was educated in the Wayne Highlands School District, Syracuse University and Temple University School of Law. He served as a Captain in the United States Army in Taiwan, Republic of China. During his military service, he received the Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service. He joined his father in business in September of 1968. He is one of the founders of the New York State Children Camp Safety Group; founder of Safety Underwriters, a consulting organization to the recreation industry, Camp Alert Network, an emergency management consulting organization, and the Gene Ezersky Camp Safety College. Henry’s other activities include serving as a Director of the Dime Bank, President of Congregation Beth Israel, Founder of the Wildflower Music Festival, and Founding Director and Vice Chair of the Mountain Laurel Center for the Performing Arts. Henry and his wife, Evelyn (Eve) Skier reside in Honesdale.
 

Nancy Turano Propst joined the Wayne Memorial Health Foundation in 2011, but she has been involved with the hospital since 1980 when she was a dietetic student. Nancy is a registered dietitian and earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Marywood University.A resident of Beach Lake, Nancy is married to Michael Propst and has three children, Steven, Andrew and Kristen and a grandson Charlie. They keep her busy in the community through volunteer work with school, sports, church, scouting and 4-H.

Dr. Gallagher is a board certified radiation oncologist, medical oncologist, and internist. A magna cum laude graduate of the College of the Holy Cross, he received his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University and earned his Masters of Business Administration at Drexel University. He trained in radiation therapy and medical oncology at Harvard University, the National Cancer Institute, and the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania.

Suzanne Grady became a member of the Foundation Board in June 2008 and has also participated in the work of the Board’s community Health Care Committee since the spring of 2006.

Marc Honigfeld joined the Wayne Memorial Health Foundation Board of Trustees in November of 2004. He has been the owner and director of Trails End Camp in Beach Lake, since 1995. However, his involvement in camping and in particular, Wayne County camping, goes back many years. Marc attended camps as a child and then during high school and summer vacations, worked as a camp counselor. He became associated with Trails End Camp in 1986, when Stan and Starr Goldberg, his father and mother-in-law, purchased Trails End Camp from its founder, Joseph Laab, a former member of the Wayne Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees. Trails End Camp is now in its 59th year.

Milton (Milt) Roegner, President of Roegner Appraisal Group, Inc., joined the Wayne Memorial Health Foundation Board of Trustees in November of 2004. Mr. Roegner is a certified appraiser in both Pennsylvania and New York State. He has been engaged in the appraisal industry since 1970 and founded the Roegner Appraisal Group in 1994. In addition to appraising residential and commercial property, Milton has appeared as an expert witness in civil procedures and before the Public Utility Commission and the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. He is also a licensed real estate broker.

William (Bill) E. Chatlos joined the Wayne Memorial Health Foundation Board of Trustees in May of 1996. For many years, Bill’s permanent residence was in North Caldwell, New Jersey. In the late 1960’s he and his wife purchased a summer residence in Beach Lake. Bill’s fondness of nature and the out of doors, and his enjoyment of the peaceful lifestyle of Wayne County recently led him to make his Beach Lake home his permanent residence. Shortly after becoming a full time resident, Bill agreed to serve as Treasurer of the Foundation.

Martha Sader has been involved with Wayne Memorial Hospital for more than 40 years.

Margaretta (Maggie) Niles, a year around resident of the Blooming Grove Club in Pike County, joined the Wayne Memorial Health Foundation Board of Trustees in December of 2005. Mrs. Niles was born in Carbondale, Pennsylvania, but shortly thereafter, her family moved to Williamsburg, Virginia, where she spent the majority of her younger years. She graduated from the National Cathedral School, attended Smith College and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature from Columbia University. Prior to retiring in Northeastern Pennsylvania, seven years ago, Maggie and her husband, Rick, Resided in Darien Connecticut. They are the parents of two grown children, Jennifer, who runs a charter school in the inner city of Washington, D.C.; and David, who is married with two children and lives and works in Manhattan.
