(June 15, 2013)...Acknowledging both Flag Day, June 14th, and Memorial Day, May 27th, the residents and staff of Wayne Woodlands Manor graciously and respectfully accepted a United States flag that had flown over the Capitol building in Washington, DC. Two residents of Wayne Woodlands, Joseph and Leila Ballard acquired the flag from US Senator Bob Casey Jr. through the efforts of their daughter and son in law, Janet Eisele, MSN, CRNP, and Kurt Eisele, Phd. Mrs. Eisele works for Pediatric Practices, which has an office on the Wayne Woodlands campus.
A brief but moving ceremony included the singing of the Star Spangled Banner by Mrs. Ballard (photo). Lt. Colonel Otis Robbins, retired USAF fighter pilot 1941-1947, helped unfurl and raise the flag (photo). The Ballards will celebrate their 63rd wedding anniversary in September.
