WMCHC Expands in Pike County
The 5,000 square foot expansion to the Pike Family Health Center built to accommodate these additional services is nearly completed. The dental center will begin seeing patients by the end of January. Behavioral health will hold office hours early in February.
WMCHC Board Chairman Peter Rodgers cited “overwhelming need” as the board’s motivation for creating additional space and recruiting expert staff to support both specialties. “The unmet demand for behavioral health and dental services, especially for those with low and middle incomes is staggering in both Pike and Wayne counties,” he stated.
WMCHC identified these two critical needs after conducting a Community Health Needs Assessment in 2009. Based upon this feedback, WMCHC secured a $1.4 million Building Capacity grant in May 2012 to finance the expansion of the existing Pike Family Health Center located on Route 739 in Lords Valley.
The Pike Dental Center, an expansion of the Together For Health Dental Center in Honesdale, consists of five operatories. The office will be attended by Stephanie Childs, DMD and Robert Fredericks, DDS. Dental services for the entire family include annual exams, preventive treatment, periodontal treatment, restorative procedures as well as dentures, partials and bridges. For an appointment, call 570-775-7818.
Board Certified Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatrist Rashesh Dholakia, MD and Board Certified Adult Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Linda L. Lane, CRNP will see patients at Pike Behavioral Health. Both providers have been holding office hours at WMCHC’s Honesdale Behavioral Health. With the new facility completed, established and new patients may be seen in Lords Valley. WMCHC’s Behavioral Health Director Michael Campbell, MD, FAPA, board certified psychiatrist, and Michelle Slowey, CRNP will continue to see patients at the Honesdale location. To learn more about the services offered or to make an appointment with Dr. Dholakia or Linda L. Lane, please call 570-775-4081.
WMCHC is a federally qualified health center clinically affiliated with Wayne Memorial Health System, Inc. For information on all services, visit www.wmh.org/WMCHC or call 570-253-8390.
