Dr. Thomas M. O'Brien Joins Women's Health Center
Dr. O’Brien, born and raised in Scranton, PA, is happy to be returning to Northeastern Pennsylvania and looks forward to building relationships with the staff and patients at Women’s Health Center as well as its clinical affiliate, Wayne Memorial Health System. “It’s nice to be working in conjunction with the health system. The best way for physicians and hospitals to thrive is to support each other,” stated Dr. O’Brien.
Dr. O’Brien comes to the Honesdale area with over 20 years experience in the field of obstetrics and gynecology. He received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA. He performed his residency at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Dr. O’Brien is a member of the American College of Obstetricians/Gynecologists, the American Medical Society and the Pennsylvania Medical Society. He most recently treated patients at his private practice located in Altoona, PA and was affiliated with Altoona Regional Health System and Nason Hospital in Roaring Spring, PA.
“Bringing a physician who was born and raised in northeastern PA back to practice locally is a great plus for the community,” stated Fredrick Jackson, executive director of WMCHC. “Dr. O’Brien has an impressive background with many years of experience to offer our patients.”
The Women’s Health Center is staffed by obstetrician/gynecologists and certified nurse midwives who provide obstetric, gynecological and confidential family planning services. Offices are located in Honesdale, Lords Valley, Hamlin and Waymart. In addition to these current locations, women’s health services will be offered at McAndrew Family Practice located in Vandling in the near future. Most private insurances including Blue Shield, First Priority, Geisinger, Aetna and United Healthcare are accepted as well as PA Access and Medicare. WMCHC is a federally qualified health center clinically affiliated with Wayne Memorial Health System.
