Wayne Memorial Appoints Medical Director of Imaging
“Dr. Farley is a wonderful addition to our organization. He is highly respected within the healthcare community, skilled in interventional radiology and capable of interpreting imaging exams across all department modalities,” stated Robert Brzuchalski, CRA, RT, RDMS, radiology manager, Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Farley received his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY and performed his residency at Saint Vincent’s Medical Center in Staten Island, NY. Additionally, he completed a fellowship in neuroradiology at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. He is a senior member of the American Society of Neuroradiology.
Dr. Farley has been practicing in northeastern Pennsylvania for the past 10 years. He most recently served as Medical Director of Imaging at Marian Community Hospital in Carbondale prior to its closure in February, 2012.
“I chose to come to Wayne Memorial because of my desire to stay in the local area and serve the same community,” stated Dr. Farley. “I am hoping to expand the availability of interventional procedures performed at the hospital.”
An interventional radiologist uses imaging modalities including x-rays, CT, ultrasound and MRI to perform minimally invasive procedures involving nearly every organ system. With the use of targeted imaging guidance, the physician is able to direct instruments no more than a few millimeters in diameter through pathways such as blood vessels via the skin. Patient benefits include small incision sites, decreased pain and quicker recovery.
Wayne Memorial Hospital has one of the best-equipped radiology departments in Northeastern Pennsylvania with 3D/4D ultrasound, CT/Scan, nuclear medicine, digital mammography, PET/CT scan, and MRI as well as general x-ray. Satellite offices located throughout Wayne, Pike and Susquehanna counties also provide imaging services. Mammography and x-ray and are offered at Pike County Medical Center in Lords Valley. Walk-in x-ray procedures are provided at Waymart Family Health Center located on Woodlands Drive Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Waymart Outpatient Center on Roosevelt Highway Monday, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Forest City Outpatient Center on Main Street in Forest City Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
