Click here for a larger view (Honesdale, November 4, 2009)…Family Medicine physician Caress Christian, MD, recently joined Dr. John Weisenreider and the staff of the Pike County Family Health Center (PFHC), a Wayne Memorial Community Health Center. Located in Lords Valley, near the Hemlock Farms community, the PFHC offers primary care and obstetrical/gynecological services with Dr. Catalina Dinu. Wayne Memorial Hospital also provides x-ray, mammography and blood draw services at the site.
“I look forward to providing quality care to the entire community,” said Dr. Christian, “from the youngest to the oldest patient.” Dr. Christian treats people of all ages, from newborn to the elderly. He has a special interest in the health issues of older adults and the management of chronic diseases such as diabetes.
A native of India, Dr. Christian completed his undergraduate studies at Brooklyn College in New York. After attending medical school at Ross University in Dominica, West Indies, where he earned high honors, Dr. Christian completed his residency in Family Medicine at Stony Brook University Hospital in Stony Brook, New York.
Since moving to the area, Dr. Christian said he and his wife have become very fond of Pike County and their home in Hemlock Farms. “I like being closer to nature,” explained Dr. Christian. “My wife and I are looking forward to raising our daughter in this beautiful community. We love being able to watch wildlife from our back window and we hope our daughter can grow up in these peaceful, natural surroundings.”
